Mike Acosta, Executive Producer of Houston City Beat
Native Houstonian Mike Acosta has built an impressive 22-year legacy with the Houston Astros, beginning as a Broadcast Intern in 1999. Over the years, he held various roles, including Astros historian, Authentication Manager, and founder of the Astros Hall of Fame. In 2013, Mike co-authored the book "Houston Astros: Deep in the Heart", celebrating the team's storied history.
Mike’s broadcasting career is extensive, covering high school and collegiate baseball since 2001, along with Triple-A baseball. His dedication to preserving Houston’s legacy is evident in his instrumental role in securing a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark marker for the Astrodome in 2018. In recognition of his commitment to baseball, he received the prestigious 2021 Fred Hartman Award from the Houston Baseball Writers Association.
Beyond his work in baseball, Mike is a multifaceted creative, expressing his artistry through painting, photography, and digital art. Before joining Houston City Beat as Partner and Executive Producer in 2022, he served as Director of Branding and Communication at Houston-based PFI. At Houston City Beat, he oversees video production and social media, blending his talents to bring Houston’s stories to life. Mike also serves on the Astrodome Conservancy board, contributing to the preservation of Houston’s cultural history.
