Houston’s thriving car culture welcomed a fresh spark when Brian Gitzen arrived in Tomball to take the helm as General Manager at VizionOne Detail. Just six weeks into his new chapter in the Bayou City, the South Carolina transplant is already channeling that unmistakable energy of someone who’s found the right fit in a bustling, high-octane town.

Gitzen touched down February 2, after officially stepping into the role on December 13. He left behind his own standalone shop back home to lead this operation, drawn not by a paycheck alone but by something deeper. “The family atmosphere, the Brogdon family takes care of their own,” he shared during our conversation. “I saw that from the time I walked in.” Longtime friend Brian Peoples had filled his ear for years about the race team and the vision for this shop. When the opportunity arose to train the team on paint protection film and window tint, Gitzen didn’t hesitate. “I sold myself as the job,” he said with a chuckle.

VizionOne Detail is the brainchild of owner Rodger Brogdon, a drag racing stalwart whose competitive fire has burned bright across decades on the strip. Brogdon has raced everything from local ET brackets to NHRA Pro Stock in potent Camaros, claiming national event victories including a standout win in Phoenix and securing No. 1 qualifiers with blistering runs. His true passion lies in Competition Eliminator, where he’s known as a relentless, clutch performer. Recent highlights include a $100,000 payout at the RoofTec Las Vegas Cash Clash in late 2024, multiple wins in Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series events through 2026 like at Norwalk, St. Louis qualifiers, and divisional races in Gainesville, Florida, including his most recent victory on March 14 of this year. Brogdon’s consistent strong showings keep him in the hunt and that same winning mindset powers the business, positioning VizionOne as a premier destination across the greater Houston area.

Gitzen’s mandate is clear: build the Tomball flagship into a powerhouse and expand outward across the Greater Houston area. “I want to grow businesses,” he stated matter-of-factly. “Even if it’s not mine, we’ll still help it grow.”

The shop goes far beyond routine detailing. It offers comprehensive aesthetic transformations: precision-applied paint protection film (PPF) to guard against rock chips and Houston’s relentless road debris, long-lasting ceramic coatings, window tinting including residential applications to combat soaring AC bills in the brutal summer heat, full color changes, vinyl wraps. They extend services to ceramic-coating appliances or countertops for those seeking extra protection. ADA-certified for aviation work, the team handles planes, helicopters, RVs, and boats, traveling to the job site for larger projects. With Galveston just a short haul away, saltwater boats are well within reach, though standard car detailing remains in-house.

What truly distinguishes VizionOne is the warranty. “You get a lifetime warranty with us,” Gitzen emphasized. “That’s the one difference with us.” Lifetime coverage on PPF and tint, no 10-year limits, no fine print fade-outs, delivers genuine confidence in a city where daily commutes take their toll.

A lifelong car enthusiast, Gitzen brings his own passion to the table. He organizes a major annual show in South Carolina and is eager to import that spirit to Houston’s massive scene. Monthly events are on the horizon: “I want to bring one monthly here, kind of like a Cars and Coffee, something like that, but more in the middle of the day,” he described. Tentatively dubbed Gloss and Gears, the gatherings will feature food trucks, perhaps a beer truck, open bays for live demos, and plenty of space for enthusiasts to park, stroll, and soak in the atmosphere. “Patrons get to enjoy it and our shop’s open to them, make a party in here.”

Adjusting to Houston has been a whirlwind. “It’s busy. It is a busy town,” he noted with a laugh. “Lots of toll roads. Haven’t quite figured my way around the toll roads yet.” Days blur into shop time, but perks like nearby Topgolf provide welcome relief. “Having a Topgolf right around the corner is a good thing. I do love doing that.” Gitzen looks forward to diving in once his wife arrives to Houston at the end of March, when they can discover the city’s food scene and events together.

Gitzen’s immediate plans includes a hiring ramp up soon. “Around April, we’ll be hiring, probably two techs for tint and PPF and then a couple more for the washes and just regular detail techs,” Gitzen said.

In a city that loves speed and style, VizionOne Detail, backed by Rodger Brogdon’s proven racing pedigree and Gitzen’s hands-on drive, stands ready to protect, enhance, and celebrate the rides that define Houston. Brian seems to be settling into the H-Town fold just fine. Those Gloss and Gears events are poised to become the next must-attend gathering in town.
