Meet Tish Dolby
Mission
We empower women and men who have experienced trauma, violence, abuse, and human trafficking through a dedicated transitional housing program. By providing essential resources, comprehensive wrap-around services, and unwavering support, we create a pathway toward lasting self-sufficiency.
Vision
We envision a world where women are equipped to unravel complex, multi-layered, and multi-generational histories. In our vision, it is the norm for a woman to be fully empowered, stepping boldly into a life of promise and endless potential.
What We Solve
Power Passion and Purpose doesn’t just provide a roof; they provide a roadmap. By addressing the deep-seated layers of trauma and history, they are helping Houston women and men move from survival to absolute success.
Key services / ways they help
Power Passion and Purpose uses a holistic, trauma-informed model to move women from crisis to confidence.
Power Passion and Purpose uses a holistic, trauma-informed model to move women from crisis to confidence. Their work is categorized into these core areas:
1. Transitional & Phased Housing
More than just a shelter, they provide a multi-phase residential program designed to bridge the gap between crisis and permanent homeownership.
Safety Net Services: 24-hour support for women fleeing dangerous situations.
Self-Sufficiency Roadmap: A structured path that leads from intake to independent living.
2. The N.E.W. Program (New Empowered Woman)
This is their signature 6-week core curriculum focused on the “healing and self-love” component of recovery.
Personalized Action Plans: Every woman receives a custom strategy to “unravel” her history and build a future.
Core Curriculum: Intensive workshops on breaking multi-generational cycles of abuse and trauma.
3. Healing-N-Motion
A unique program that recognizes that trauma is stored in the body. It combines emotional processing with physical wellness.
Support Groups: “Healing Through Words” sessions.
Therapeutic Movement: Yoga, meditation, and dance to promote physical and mental realignment.
Self-Defense: Empowering women with the physical tools to feel safe in their own skin.
4. Wrap-Around Support Services
To ensure self-sufficiency is permanent, they provide the “essential extras” that often determine success:
Parenting Support: Training specifically designed for mothers healing from trauma.
Level-Up Program: Leadership development and entrepreneurship training to help women create multiple streams of income.
Life Skills: Practical training in financial literacy, job readiness, and wellness.
Financial Contributions
Power Passion and Purpose is a 501(c)(3) non-profit. Every dollar helps provide the “wrap-around” services survivors need to rebuild.
$2 Tuesdays: Join their recurring grassroots campaign! A small weekly donation makes a massive cumulative impact.
Project Funding: Donations currently support the development of their three-phase transitional housing program, which includes safe residency and life-skills training.
Connected to the Houston Community
The Heart of the Connection
Tish Dolby is more than the founder of a nonprofit; she is a “survivor-leader” who has turned decades of lived experience into a roadmap for others. As a Community Connector, Tish fills a critical gap in Northwest Harris County—an area where resources for domestic violence and trauma survivors are often limited or far away.
She doesn’t just provide a service; she provides relatability. By being transparent about her own journey of breaking multi-generational cycles, she creates a safe, judgment-free space where women feel comfortable “unraveling” their own histories.
How She Connects the Community
The Bridge to Safety: Tish works closely with local law enforcement, schools, doctors, and social workers to ensure survivors have a “safe passage out” of dangerous situations.
Holistic Advocacy: She connects mental, physical, and spiritual wellness, teaching women that healing isn’t just about a roof over their heads, but about reclaiming their identity through her signature “I Choose Me” philosophy.
Mentorship & Empowerment: Through her “Level Up” and “N.E.W.” programs, she connects women to the skills they need for economic self-sufficiency, from computer literacy to leadership development.
