When I first entered the health insurance industry in 2018, I didn’t fully understand how deeply meaningful this career would become. Like many people, I was drawn in by the opportunity to build a business, help others, and create long-term stability. What I discovered along the way was something much bigger: a career where the work truly matters!
Health insurance touches every stage of life. From young adults buying coverage for the first time, to families protecting their children, to retirees navigating Medicare, the decisions people make about their health coverage can have life-altering consequences. Early on, I realized that this wasn’t just a sales role—it was a responsibility. Clients weren’t just buying a policy; they were trusting me to help them protect their health, their finances, and their peace of mind.
Another reason health insurance has been the right career for me is the entrepreneurial opportunity it provides. This industry rewards work ethic, integrity, and consistency. The income potential is uncapped, but more importantly, it’s earned by building relationships and providing ongoing service. It’s a career where you can grow personally and professionally, create flexibility, and build something sustainable over time.
The industry has certainly changed since I started eight years ago. Costs have risen, regulations have evolved, and consumers are more confused than ever. But that’s exactly why I’d choose this career again today. The need for knowledgeable, ethical professionals has never been greater. People don’t want guesswork when it comes to their health, they want guidance from someone who understands the system and genuinely cares.
Not only have I seen this career path change my life but also the numerous other agents. I’ve had the pleasure of mentoring over a hundred agents. Being able to see other agents change their family’s life through the financial freedom this opportunity offers is second to none. Everyone’s definition of success is different and this career allows you to define that yourself, not by someone else measure. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it all over again!
At the end of the day, this career is about people- simple as that!
