About The Kalos Project
The Kalos Project builds resilient local food economies by growing high-value organic produce on small community sites across the Greater Houston Area.
But this is more than farming. The Kalos Project uses local food production as a training ground for young adults coming out of foster care, the justice system, and difficult transitional seasons of life. Through farming, mentorship, paid apprenticeship, and workforce development, young adults gain practical skills, purpose, income, and a path forward.
At the same time, Houston communities gain access to fresh, local, traceable food grown close to home.
The Kalos Project brings two broken systems into the same field: a fragmented local food economy and young people who have too often been overlooked. Their belief is simple and powerful: the young person becomes the workforce, the farm becomes the second chance, and Houston becomes stronger because of both.
