Meet Misty Richardson
Lived experience transformed into a bridge for others.
After experiencing homelessness for 15 years beginning in childhood, Misty Richardson founded Reach The Homeless to help people across Houston find food, essential supplies, resources and a path toward stability.
Misty’s approach begins with listening. Rather than deciding what someone needs from a distance, she sits down, learns the person’s story and helps identify the next practical step.
Through volunteers and community partners, Reach The Homeless coordinates outreach that provides meals, hygiene supplies and other necessities while helping people navigate barriers involving identification, shelter, employment and housing.
Misty is also exploring how technology can reduce repeated paperwork and connect people with multiple organizations and resources through a simpler, more coordinated process.
